(Definition of MAGPIES (Nickname of Newcastle United Football Club) Which we adopted and anyone who served in a ship called HMS Newcastle) Secondly, is to bring as many of those Magpies as want to, together at an annual reunion. Not all members come to reunions, in fact some have never come to a reunion, but it is not a condition of membership that you should attend reunions. We are about more than just reunions, but it should be said that we have a great deal of fun at them! We have an account with Barclays Bank Plc at Newbury to which all receipts are paid, and the Association is managed by a committee of members elected at AGM’s which are held each year on the same weekend as the Reunion. If you qualify for membership i.e. you served on H.M.S.Newcastle during any commission, on joining you will receive by return of post the latest newsletter (produced three times a year), a "slop chit", a membership card, the Constitution and Rules book, but most importantly a full address list of members that served on the Newcastle at the same time as you. To join this exclusive club, all we ask is £5 per year subscription Fill out membership form and make your cheque or PO out to HMS Newcastle Association and return to the Membership Secretary's address.
